Yesterday, The Lord Mayor, Councillor Gerry Barker, and Councillor Allison Coates, Shadow Portfolio holder for Healthy People and Places, attended the launch of the new Dementia Hub for Bradford, at Odsal Stadium. This new service has been commissioned by Bradford Council and will be run by Community Links, a non-profit metal health service provider which is part of the Inspire North Group. Funding for the service has been secured for the next three years and will be funded in partnership with Bradford Bulls and Khidmat Centres.
The hub will provide information and advice to support local people about managing their dementia and how they can still live well despite their condition. It will offer comprehensive post diagnosis information, advice, and sign posting for adults of any age. Support will also be there for sufferer's families, friends and carers.
Councillor Allison Coates, Shadow Portfolio holder for Healthy People and Places, said "I was pleased to attend yesterday's official launch of the Bradford Dementia Hub at Odsal Stadium, this is a support service that is greatly needed."
