Paul Golding has only been a member of the Conservative Party for a short length of time. But in that short length of time he has stood as a local District Councillor (in 2023) and has been using his skills as a retired Special Police Constable to engage with local people and find out more about their concerns and priorities.
Paul recently retired after basically having two careers. For many years he worked in the motor trade reaching the level of Master Technician. Paul then became a Control Room Officer working for Safer Leeds in Leeds City Council, monitoring the huge CCTV network within Leeds and surrounding areas and reporting incidents and occurrences to police and partner agencies as they are spotted on the screens.
Paul also served with West Yorkshire Police as a Special Constable, during which time he was presented with the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal and awarded the Long Service with Good Conduct Medal.
Paul says "More recently I moved to the Shipley Constituency with my wife and family which is now my home. I love the mix of both rural and township throughout our area and want to do my utmost to protect all the good things we have and possibly take for granted. I also want to help get rid of the challenging issues and problems, and to promote a stronger sense of community through the Christian values that many of us share.
I have already seen that Bingley does not get a fair deal from Labour controlled Bradford Council, who would rather spend money and resources on City-centric policies.
If elected I will, drawing on my experience in the police service and working for Leeds City Council, work to ensure that Bingley’s voice is heard at City Hall."
