Bingley Rural Councillors call for Urgent Action to protect the St Ives Mansion House
On Monday ( 18 November) Bingley Rural Councillors Geoff Winnard, Falak Ahmed and Paul Sullivan joined Council officers on an inspection visit of the Grade 2 Listed Mansion House on the St Ives Estate. The building has been subject to fire damage and neglect for many years.
This followed a residents backed petition with nearly 1300 signatures being presented , and a debate at the full Council in October calling for Bradford Council to take the action required to secure and protect this building.
After the inspection visit, Cllr Geoff Winnard said:
‘The building has been left in a shocking and derelict state - even worse than we expected. Now that the Council officers have seen the extent of the damage, hopefully they will now come up with a plan of action.
It is now a matter of some urgency that Bradford Council as the freeholder of the Mansion House, get a grip of this and use the legal powers available to it to ensure this important heritage building is protected and plans are developed to restore the building to its former glory.’
