Bingley Council Candidate Selected
Bingley Conservatives have chosen Geoff Winnard, a local resident and Bingley Town Councillor as their candidate for the district council election in May 2019.
Elected to Bingley Town Council in May 2016 to represent Gilstead, Geoff has lead the Conservative team on the council, serving on its Finance and General Purposes committee and and chairing it’s Staffing Committee
He has recently taken early retirement after a long career working in various employment relations roles for the NHS..
Geoff lives in Gilstead and married with a son at university.
Geoff said “I am honoured to have been chosen as the Conservative Party’s candidate for Bingley. If elected, I am committed to working with existing councillors, the Town Council and other local groups to promote the interests of Bingley and the surrounding villages in City Hall. It is clear that Bingley does not get a fair deal from Labour controlled a fair deal from Bradford Council – this has to change.
Bingley is a great place to live and it is good to see the progress being made by the town council and local groups in their efforts to regenerate the town centre and encourage more visitors. I will continue to give my support to the local initiatives for a better Bingley.
It is important to protect the character of our communities and I will support residents in opposing inappropriate large scale housing developments that encroach on the greenbelt.
I will work with local police to promote crime prevention initiatives and urge stronger action to address the current epidemic of burglaries, car crime, and anti-social behaviour.”
