Councillor Bob Felstead, Wharfedale Ward, has recently been working with David Wilson Homes to help them realise that they have a responsibility to the Burley Community and that they should be willing to invest financially in the area if they want to improve their local image.
Bob spent years challenging the need for their development in Burley but now that Bradford Council has given it the go-ahead Bob wants to get as much financial investment from David Wilson Homes as he can. The District Council Planners and Highways no longer see the need for them to stay involved, but Bob wants to get more for the village. Now is the time to work with David Wilson Homes and to give them ideas where they might get support from locals if they help local residents along the way.
Some time ago, Bob tried to get Bradford Council to consider speed limit reductions in Burley but didn't get very far. Now that David Wilson Homes have completed their work on the A65 it is time to see what road safety is really like. Thanks to Bob, David Wilson Homes have agreed to commission and pay for a road safety audit which will help to support and inform policy at the council regarding the speed limit.
Councillor Bob Felstead said
I am still working with David Wilson Homes and trying to get more. More will follow and as always I'll deliver on my promises. They know that I spent years challenging their development but also agree that it is now time to work together, cooperatively.
