Cllr Debbie Davies supports local taxi firm at Council planning meeting

Last month, Cllr Debbie Davies spoke at a Council planning meeting in support of Baildon Taxis.

Debbie said:

"Baildon Taxis is a long established, well respected local business that has re-located just a few yards from its previous location.  The new location is in a safer position off the main road on the edge of a conservation area.  The taxi office has been built from natural stone and is in keeping with the local area; in fact it is a vast improvement as it hides a dilapidated old garage from view.

The revised plans removed the external waiting area which makes it more acceptable to people living nearby (the closest property, 19a Northgate, is now commercial rather than residential so there are no near neighbours) and the vast majority of business is done by telephone so there is no need for people to visit the booking office.  Baildon Taxis have done a fantastic job in marketing their phone number across Baildon, including installing a Freephone in the nearby Co-op and Copper Beech Club.

The business has been successfully trading in the existing location for 8 months on top of over 30 years in its previous location and approval of this planning application will hopefully allow them to trade successfully for many more years to come."

Councillors unanimously approved the new taxi office plans.
