A very moving remembrance service was held in Centenary Square this morning to remember the 56 who lost their lives 40 years ago today in the Bradford City fire.
The sun was shining and it was a tremendous turn out. The claret and amber floral tributes at the memorial are beautiful.
After the service Councillor Geoff Winnard said.
‘It was a privilege to attend, with so many others, what was a poignant and emotional commemoration of 40 years since the Bradford fire disaster. The 56 lives lost will be forever remembered in the Bradford District.’
Councillor Falak Ahmed was unable to attend the service but later said
"My thoughts were with everyone who attended Sunday’s memorial service to remember and honour the lives lost. Events like this are a vital part of keeping their memory alive and ensuring we never forget."
